The Fishermen’s Association was formed in 1989 to look after Fishermen’s interests commercially and socially and be a forum for their concerns. This is especially so in relation to the conservation of fish stocks and the effect that illegal fishing in St. Helena’s Exclusive Fishing Zone has on the abundance of fish in the inshore waters. There are now only 30 full time fishermen and two vessels working offshore stationed on the Island. |
