Cherish our past, value our future
newsletter no.18 - july 2008

There always seems to be a good number of things going on at the National Trust any one time.  In recent weeks we have;

  • made a start on the public access to the Heart Shaped Waterfall
  • assisted with the archaeology investigations in Rupert’s Valley on behalf of the Air Access project
  • progressed further with setting up better facilities at the Millennium Forest
  • continued the search for new funding so the National Trust can stay active

We are always encouraged by the support the Trust enjoys from overseas.  A trickle of subscriptions and donations arrives in the post from most calls of the RMS St Helena.

Now we are making a special exhortation to Trust Members and Donors, old and new.

The St Helena National Trust is aiming to step up its involvement with the ever increasing conservation and preservation demands which need to be met if the Island’s natural and built heritage is thrive through and after the changes envisaged by the proposed airport. During the last six months we have been involved with many things – these will be covered in e-newsletters which we intend to distribute at least once per month.

Unfortunately, keeping our members and supporters informed of what we are doing has been pushed down the list as we try to keep to schedule with our projects and keep abreast of new developments which, for a small remote island, happen with ever increasing frequency. For organisations like the Trust a strong membership, reflected in the number of subscribers it attracts, is crucial if we are to play our full part in St Helena’s future.

We therefore keenly invite you to either renew your membership or take out your first subscription.

An Annual subscription is £15.  An Annual Family subscription is £25.  A Life Membership is £250.
