Two site workers have recently been employed on two year contracts to clear away the often thick vegetation to make an adequate and safe pathway from Drummond’s Point to the foot of the Heart Shaped Waterfall. After just one month, they have almost completed the steps from the Point to the valley bottom and started to clear the trees and scrub from the banks of the steam so a bridge can be laid across.
We have also had valuable assistance from Tom Belton, A New Zealander who is here as part of the Invasive Species Project. Tom seems to have spent most of his formative years roaming the more remote parts of South Island, New Zealand and has an excellent eye for finding good walking routes, even behind walls of dense vegetation. With Tom’s help we have quickly identified easier routes around some of the more difficult terrain. Tom’s involvement has saved us a lot of time and work. |
