Two Gulls and a Girl

An inspiring 10 year old young naturalist... Roxanne Schinas visited St Helena with her family aboard their self designed and built yacht the Mollymawk a couple of years ago and during their stay they made many friends. Roxanne's mother Jill an artist, produced the design for the Millennium Forest t-shirts.

Throughout most of the past year they have been "hanging out" off an uninhabited island called Isla Perdiguera. The island is home to a seagull colony, and back in March Roxanne decided to study the birds and map their nests. Rowing back to the boat one day with a fluffy new born chick the study became much much more. The chick soon acquired a brother and, of course, Roxanne didn't just want to look after her two; she wanted to study the ones growing up on the island. With her families help, her work has now been published, Two Gulls and a Girl by Roxanne Schinas. ISBN 978-0-9560722-0-7, available from Amazon and other online suppliers, and can also be ordered through any bookshop.
